🧵 Made by hand, right here in WilCo

Handcrafts Unlimited has been part of Georgetown’s downtown story since 1983. The all-volunteer nonprofit gives local artists and craftspeople age 50 and older a welcoming place to display and sell their work.

Step inside and you may find quilts, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, glass pieces, knitted gifts, greeting cards and seasonal decorations. Because the inventory comes from individual makers, the selection changes often and nearly every shelf carries a local story.

The shop also accepts special orders and can help with certain quilt repairs. You do not need to be an artist to get involved, either. Volunteers help welcome customers, care for the store and keep this longtime Georgetown tradition going.

It is a lovely place to find a thoughtful gift while directly supporting an older Williamson County maker.

🥙 Bright Levantine flavors in Cedar Park

1320 Cypress Creek Road, Suite 105, Cedar Park

Levant Café & Grill serves halal dishes inspired by the Levant, the eastern Mediterranean region that includes Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine. The menu is built around grilled meats, fresh vegetables, spreads, salads and plenty of bold spices.

The Levant shawarma combines beef and lamb with parsley, onion, sumac, tahini and Iraqi amba, a tangy mango sauce. Or build a mezze plate with six sides and salads, including hummus, babaganoush, Lebanese majadara, Syrian moussaka and mixed makaly, a combination of fried cauliflower, eggplant and zucchini.

For something straight from the grill, try the chicken taouk, kofta kebab or shishlik. Finish with baklava, basbusa or rice pudding flavored with rose water.

🔥 Help keep WilCo safe during the burn ban

Williamson County placed a countywide burn ban into effect on August 18 as dry conditions raised the risk of wildfires. Outdoor burning is restricted, although fires contained in approved enclosures may be permitted under the county’s rules.

Before lighting anything outdoors, check the county’s current status and requirements.

🏠 More home-repair help is coming to Round Rock

Round Rock has approved its federal community-development funding plan for 2026–27, with roughly $417,000 set aside for the city’s home-repair program. The money will help qualifying low-to-moderate-income residents with major repairs, including heating and air-conditioning replacements, with assistance capped at $25,000 per home.

The plan also includes $20,000 for Williamson-Burnet Counties Meals on Wheels, expected to help provide meal deliveries to about 100 seniors.

🌳 Bell District Trees Are Getting Some Care

Tree maintenance is continuing around the Bell District, including Bell Park, the library grounds and sections along Bell Boulevard. Some walking paths may close temporarily while crews complete the work.
