Happy Thursday, WilCo Seniors!

With Mother’s Day coming up, we’re excited to share a sweet local story and a thoughtful gift idea from Georgetown-area maker Sara Kiehl.

Sara is a lifelong seamstress and tailor who recently launched a handmade tote business featuring durable, beautifully crafted pieces. Her work reflects decades of skill, from custom garments to sewn goods made with the kind of care that lasts.

Sara is hosting an Open House on May 2 in Georgetown, where guests can shop in person, view her latest designs, and place custom orders. She also accepts online orders for those looking for something more personalized.

Her sister shared a touching memory from the 1980s, when she wore a suit Sara had made while living in Italy. Locals would stop her, thinking it was Armani. Her answer was always the same: “It’s Sara… made with love.”

This Mother’s Day, Sara is featuring special graphics and seasonal designs perfect for gifting. We’re proud to support local makers like Sara, whose work blends creativity, craftsmanship, and heart.

This Week: A Gift of Time

There are some organizations you are glad exist even before you need them, and A Gift of Time is one of those. The Georgetown nonprofit supports people living with mild to moderate memory loss, along with their caregivers and families, through education, support groups, local resources, and respite programming.

What makes it especially worth knowing about is how practical the support is. Their respite and retreat program runs at the Carver Center for Families on multiple weekdays, giving caregivers actual breathing room while loved ones participate in thoughtfully designed activities. They also host caregiver support groups and memory-skills programming, which means the help here is not abstract, it is woven into ordinary local life.

This is the kind of community resource people often discover later than they wish they had. If memory loss has touched your family, or if you know someone quietly carrying that load, A Gift of Time is worth keeping in your back pocket. They also welcome community support to help keep those programs going.

This Week: Mouton’s Bistro & Bar, Cedar Park

Mouton’s Bistro & Bar feels like the sort of place you end up recommending to friends because it works for more than one mood. It has the warm wood, soft light, proper bar, and unhurried feel of a place built for a long brunch or an easy dinner, and they have been serving Cedar Park since 2012.

The menu gives you plenty to point at. The brunch side includes bread pudding French toast, eggs Benedict, and more, while the broader kitchen leans into Cajun and Creole staples like gumbo, jambalaya, shrimp étouffée, and po’boys. If you like a place with a little life to it, they also run jazz brunch, live music nights, and seasonal boils.

Happy hour runs every day from 2 to 7 p.m., which makes this an especially good late lunch or early supper stop. That alone may be enough to get some of you in the car.

Williamson County’s emergency communications team just hit a big milestone

You can vote at any Williamson County polling location on May 2

If you are waiting until Saturday, countywide voting is in effect, which means Williamson County voters can cast a ballot at any polling location in the county. The county elections page also keeps the location list and timing in one place, which is handy if your usual routine changes.
