Greetings, WilCo Seniors!
Summer is the perfect time to try something a little different, and our family and friends recently ventured into Austin for one of the most unique family date nights we’ve had in a while.
We enjoyed dinner at Garrison inside the Fairmont Austin before heading up to the seventh floor for Theatre of Magic. The food was delicious, and the magic show was amazing, personal and unlike anything we had done before. Having everything in one place also made the evening feel easy and convenient.
It is technically outside Williamson County, but when you’re up for a short drive, this is such a fun option for a date night, special occasion or evening with friends and family. The restaurant will even validate your Fairmont parking ticket for free!
Sometimes the best memories come from trying something new, and we hope this week’s newsletter inspires you to discover a few new experiences of your own. Enjoy this week’s edition!

Neighbor Spotlight: Kit Baumann, Senior Living Kit

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Kit Baumann, founder of Senior Living Kit. Kit helps seniors and their families navigate one of the most personal decisions a family can face: finding the right senior living option with guidance that feels calm, informed, and compassionate.
Her work is built around making the process feel less overwhelming. Whether a family is just starting to explore options or already trying to compare communities, Kit offers personalized support, trusted resources, and a steady hand through each step.
That kind of help can make a real difference, especially when families are trying to make decisions quickly or from a place of stress. Kit’s goal is simple: help families feel more confident, more prepared, and less alone as they figure out what comes next.
If you or someone you love is exploring senior living options, Kit is a good local resource to know.

This Week: Plowman’s Kitchen, Taylor

305 W. 9th Street, Taylor
Plowman’s Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner inside the old Taylor High School band hall, with instruments and school memories still worked into the space. The menu is full of made-from-scratch comfort food, including all-day breakfast, chicken-fried steak, burgers and Mom’s meatloaf.
Save room for the bakery case, which is stocked with homemade pies, cakes and other treats. It’s a fun stop when you’re exploring Old Taylor High or simply want a hearty meal in a setting with plenty of local history.

🎉 Baca Center Turns 20
Round Rock’s Allen R. Baca Center is celebrating 20 years of serving adults 50 and up. The city recently marked the milestone with a recognition ceremony for members, volunteers, supporters, and local leaders, which is a nice reminder of how important these gathering places are.
💧 Georgetown Water Dates Changed
Georgetown’s annual water system maintenance is now scheduled for Aug. 3 through Sept. 3. During that window, customers may notice a chlorine smell or temporary green or brown tint, but the city says the water remains safe to drink for people, pets, and plants.

📚 New library services make borrowing easier
Round Rock Public Library has launched Library on the Go, a pop-up service bringing books, movies and activities to Frontier Park and Meadow Lake Park on select Saturday mornings through August. The library also introduced a new 24/7 Hold Locker, making it easier for cardholders to pick up reserved items whenever it's convenient.
