This Week: AGE of Central Texas, Round Rock

Some support is practical, and some support lets a family breathe again. AGE of Central Texas does a little of both. The nonprofit serves older adults and family caregivers across Central Texas, and its Williamson County Thrive Social & Wellness Center is right here in Round Rock.

The Thrive Center provides daytime care for older adults with physical or cognitive needs. That means a person can spend the day in a safe, social, structured place while family caregivers get time for work, errands, rest, or simply a few hours to catch their breath. Anyone who has walked through caregiving knows how much that kind of support can matter.

AGE also offers caregiver education and resources, which is one of those things people often wish they had found sooner. When a parent, spouse, or friend starts needing more care, the questions arrive quickly. Where do we start? What help exists? How do we keep everyone safe, connected, and not completely worn out?

If caregiving is part of your family’s life right now, AGE of Central Texas is worth keeping close.

Want to be our next spotlight?

We're looking for WilCo neighbors to feature in this section. Maybe you volunteer somewhere. Maybe you just picked up a new hobby. Maybe you've been here 30 years and have great stories. Reply to this email and tell us about yourself or someone you know. Attach a photo if you've got one!

This Week: City Post Chophouse, Georgetown

113 E. 8th Street, Georgetown

There are restaurants that feel like a meal, and then there are restaurants that feel like an occasion. City Post Chophouse lands in that second group. It sits inside Georgetown’s historic former post office, right near the Square, and the building alone gives the place a sense of history before the first plate reaches the table.

The menu leans classic steakhouse, with steaks, chops, oysters, seafood, and the kind of wine-and-dessert energy that makes dinner feel like something you planned instead of something you squeezed in. It is a good pick for a birthday, anniversary, family visit, or any evening when you want the room to do a little of the work.

It is not the cheapest lunch in town, but it does have that “let’s take our time” quality that makes a meal memorable. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

📦 County records office moves this week

Williamson County Clerk’s Records Division will be closed Friday, June 26, while it relocates to the new Williamson County Administration Building. Online records services remain available, but if you were planning an in-person records errand, this is a good one to postpone.

🏞️ Quarry Splash Pad is temporarily closed

The Quarry Splash Pad at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park is temporarily closed because of a mechanical failure. If you were thinking about taking the grandkids, check the county parks page before you load the towels and sunscreen.

🚗 More road funding is coming

Williamson County says several local transportation projects are set to receive CAMPO funding, including roadway and trail improvements across the county. It’s not the flashiest news, but better roads and safer connections matter when you’re trying to get across a fast-growing WilCo.
