This Week: Round Rock Area Serving Center

There’s something steadying about a place that does not need a lot of fanfare to matter. Round Rock Area Serving Center is one of those places. The organization helps neighbors across Round Rock and southern Williamson County through food support, vouchers, volunteer-driven assistance, and a charity resale shop that helps fund the work. In 2025 alone, its home-delivery food program served 5,900 households throughout Williamson County.

What makes it especially worth knowing about right now is how easy they make it to step in and help. New volunteer orientations take place twice a month on Tuesdays and twice a month on Saturdays, no reservation needed, which tells you a lot about how open the organization is to new hands. If you have been looking for a practical place to give a little time, this is a great option.

This Week: Lucky Duck Cafe, Taylor

220 E. 4th St., Taylor

If you’re craving an easy comfort-food lunch, Lucky Duck Cafe in Taylor is worth the drive. It’s a casual downtown spot with a menu full of the stuff people actually want: fried seafood, po’ boys, chicken fried chicken, and plates that feel more satisfying than showy.

There’s plenty to choose from, including catfish, shrimp, shrimp po’ boys, and more hearty homestyle favorites. It’s local, relaxed, and very much a come-hungry, leave-happy stop.

Hours are simple too: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Got a favorite spot you think more people should know about?

Reply and tell us the name, your go-to order, and why you love it!

🚐 A cheaper way to get around Cedar Park

The LiNK Cedar Park program gives riders 10 reduced-fare trips each month within city limits. Riders pay a $5 base fare, and the city covers up to $10 more on eligible trips. It could be especially helpful for older adults, people without easy access to a car, or anyone who needs a little more independence getting around town. It’s one of those local resources you’ll be glad to know about before you need it.

🎓 Expect graduation traffic near H-E-B Center

Cedar Park says the H-E-B Center will host graduation ceremonies through Monday, June 1, and ongoing construction on New Hope Drive is adding to the congestion. The city is encouraging drivers to use alternate routes during that stretch.

🏅 Top marks for Williamson County vehicle services

Williamson County’s Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office earned Gold Level Recognition from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles for 2025, one of only three counties in Texas to receive it.

The office served more than 250,000 residents, registered over 580,000 vehicles, processed 140,000 titles, and reported a 99.56% customer satisfaction rating. Not exactly glamorous, but pretty nice to know the next time you’re dealing with registration paperwork.

You can be a part of the next issue by replying to this email to:

  1. Submit a birthday for yourself or a friend.
