Happy Thursday, WilCo Seniors!
Hello June and the beautiful, late evening sunsets that come with it. Not to mention the countless opportunities to enjoy our cool community. If you've ever been to Laguna Gloria which is tucked away along the shores of Lake Austin, you already know it's a wonderful place to be, outside of Wilco. You can venture through the grounds to discover art by contemporary artists from all around the world in nature, have quiet moments on meditative wooded pathways and take some really nice pictures along the way. Our family loved it. They also have a nice shaded area with refreshing drinks at the end of your adventure. Tickets for Seniors are only $5. The new museum café, Spread & Co is now open too. It was a wonderful place to spend on Mother’s Day and it’s a great place to spend on Father’s Day…Sat June 21.

As temperatures rise, staying active doesn't have to mean being out in the heat all day. Consider taking morning or evening walks, visiting local museums, participating in community fitness classes, or enjoying shaded parks and gardens throughout Wilco. Many local libraries, recreation centers, and senior programs also offer fun ways to stay engaged while keeping cool.
Summer Tip: Keep a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. Staying hydrated is one of the simpllest and most effective ways to stay healthy and energized.

This Week: Treasure of the Hills Senior Center, Cedar Park

If you have ever wished Cedar Park had one obvious place where older adults could plug in, Treasure of the Hills Senior Center is exactly that. The center says it offers adults 50 and older chances to join card games, board games, breakfast and lunch gatherings, exercise classes, day trips, dancing, and music, all under one roof. That is a pretty good argument for stopping by.
It also has a nice, practical setup. Treasure of the Hills is at 408 Ridgewood Drive in Cedar Park, keeps office hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and lists annual membership at $35 per person. More than anything, it comes across as a place built for routine, friendship, and staying involved.

This Week: Texan Cafe & Pie Shop, Hutto

207 East Street, Hutto
Texan Cafe & Pie Shop has the relaxed feel of a true hometown café. It’s casual, cozy, and built around made-from-scratch, home-style food, which makes it a natural fit for a local feature.
The menu has plenty to work with, too. You can start the day with the Texan Breakfast Sandwich, loaded with eggs, bacon, American cheese, sourdough, and a hash brown patty, or swing by later for lunch, dinner, or dessert. And the pie case alone is reason enough to stop in! Between the pies, cakes, and cobblers, this is the perfect “grab a slice” visit that can turn into a full meal pretty fast.
