📦 A Helping Hand for Life’s Next Move
Sorting through a home filled with decades of memories can feel overwhelming. Caring Transitions of Round Rock helps older adults and their families manage that process with practical support and a thoughtful plan.
Local owner Monica Martinez understands how emotional the work can be. She started the business after experiencing the difficulty of sorting and clearing her parents’ belongings when they passed away. Her son, sister and sister-in-law helped her bring the business to life, and today the team supports other families through similar transitions.
Services can include decluttering, deciding what will fit in a smaller home, packing, coordinating movers and setting up the new space. The team can also organize estate sales and online auctions, arrange donations and help clear the former home.
Families can request help with the entire transition or select only the services they need. Caring Transitions offers a free consultation and serves Round Rock, Cedar Park and communities throughout Williamson County.

🍔 A Hutto burger spot with plenty of local character
205 East Street, Hutto
The Downtown Hall of Fame has been part of downtown Hutto since 2011, serving hand-pressed burgers made with locally sourced beef in a casual neighborhood setting.
The grilled mushroom burger comes with sautéed mushrooms, onions and Swiss cheese, while the BBQ Ring Burger adds smoked brisket, barbecue sauce and an onion ring. Not in the mood for a burger? Try the fried chicken sandwich or a bowl of chicken and dumplings, with hand-cut fries, onion rings or macaroni and cheese on the side.
Save room for banana pudding or warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Either one makes a pretty sweet finish to a relaxed Hutto meal.

🏡 Average county tax bill expected to dip
Williamson County has approved its $712.9 million budget for the upcoming year. The tax rate is technically going up, but county officials estimate the county portion of the average homestead’s property tax bill will drop by about $28 per year. The exact amount will depend on your home’s value and exemptions.
The new budget puts a big focus on public safety and roads, including more positions for the Sheriff’s Office and EMS, updated emergency equipment and continued transportation improvements.
💧 Round Rock Utility Rates Are Headed Up
Round Rock has approved a new three-year rate plan for water and wastewater customers. Residential and commercial water rates are generally expected to rise about 3 to 5 percent each year, while retail wastewater rates will increase about 4 to 5 percent annually.
Officials say the increases reflect higher raw-water and electricity costs, employee expenses and major regional infrastructure projects. Customers who watch their water use may want to review upcoming bills carefully as the new rates take effect.
🍔 Leander’s First Hat Creek Is in the Works
Another burger favorite could be joining Leander’s growing food scene. Hat Creek Burger Company has filed preliminary plans for its first location in the city, with a proposed 3,438-square-foot restaurant along Crystal Park Trail near Ronald Reagan Boulevard.
If everything stays on track, construction could begin in November 2026 and wrap up around April 2027. The timeline is still preliminary, but burgers, fries and shakes may be headed this way!
