Happy Thursday, WilCo Seniors!
More seniors are looking for ways to simplify life, reduce expenses, and drive with confidence. And many are finding that switching to a Tesla or an electrical vehicle just making sense.
The biggest surprise for most people is the long term savings. With gas prices often fluctuating, electric car owners typically save $1000-$1500 per year on fuel by charging at home. Maintenace is also much lower— no oil changes, fewer parts, and fewer unexpected repair bills…saving even more each year.
However, for seniors, it’s not just about saving money- it’s about ease and peace of mind. Imagine not having to go to the gas station, zero trips for oil changes and a smooth, quiet drive. Teslas are also known for advanced safety features that can help make everyday driving around Wilco feel more comfortable and secure. With nearby charging options expanding across Central Texas and simple home charging setups, making the swithch is easier than ever.
But what we hear most from others isn’t just aoubt money—it’s about peace of mind. One Wilco family shared how much they love knowing their parents are driving a car with Full Self Driving (FSD) capability—helping with things like lane changes, highway driving, and added awareness on the road.
Trading in a gas vehicle for a Tesla isn’t just a car decision... it’s a lifestyle upgrade that pays off over time.

This Week: Georgetown Palace Theatre

There are some places around here that feel stitched into the community, and Georgetown Palace Theatre is one of them. The Palace describes its mission as celebrating storytelling and shared human experience through artistic excellence, education, and community engagement, and after nearly 100 years in Georgetown, that rings true.
This spring, the Palace is carrying a little extra weight. After winter weather damage in January, the theater has been raising money for repairs, and its new Save A Seat campaign invites supporters to help rebuild while leaving their name on the next chapter of the building. A recent $100,000 matching grant has added some momentum, which makes this a very good week to remind readers that local institutions stay local because people here decide they matter.

The Palace is also one of those organizations that gives people a real way in. Volunteer opportunities include ushering and other support roles, and its adaptive programming includes free sensory-friendly shows for audience members with special needs and their families. That mix of history, accessibility, and plain old neighborly participation is a big part of why the place has lasted.
If you have not checked in on the Palace in a while, this is a good moment to do it, and maybe bring a friend with you.

This Week: URBAN Eat.Drink, Round Rock

110 S. Harris Street, Round Rock, TX 78664
URBAN Eat.Drink sits in a little historic house in downtown Round Rock, and that setting does a lot of the work before the food even hits the table. It is locally owned, has indoor and patio seating, and feels built for the kind of lunch that turns into coffee, dessert, or one more round of conversation.
Brunch is a strong place to start here. The menu includes banana bread French toast with caramelized banana glaze and candied pecans, crab cake benedict, avocado toast with goat cheese and pickled red onion, and a chicken and waffle with pepper-infused syrup. If you are going later in the day, the daily happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. makes it an easy downtown stop.
Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the restaurant often has live music during Sunday brunch. Parking is easy, too, with street parking and two free garages across the street.

Know the Red Poppy shuttle plan before you go
If you are heading to Georgetown this weekend, the easiest move may be to skip downtown parking altogether. The city says free shuttle service will run on Saturday and Sunday from Georgetown High School and East View High School, which should make festival day a whole lot smoother.
📍 Georgetown High School, 2211 N. Austin Ave. and East View High School, 4490 E. University Ave., Georgetown

Early voting is already underway in Georgetown
If you have been meaning to vote early and keep putting it off, this is your nudge. Early voting for Georgetown local elections runs April 20 to April 28, with no voting on April 21 or April 26, and Georgetown voters can use any polling location in Williamson County during early voting and on election day.

Round Rock Public Library is a good place to keep learning
The Round Rock Public Library’s adult education offerings are broader than many people realize. The library highlights appointments, databases, and classes for adults learning new skills, and its events calendar continues to include adult programs in technology, literacy, and more.
📍 Round Rock Public Library, 200 E. Liberty St., Round Rock
