⭐ COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Treasure of the Hills Senior Center — Cedar Park

If you live in or near Cedar Park and haven't checked out Treasure of the Hills, you're missing out.

Tucked off Ridgewood Drive next to Buttercup Creek Park, this senior center has been a home away from home for adults 50+ in the Cedar Park area for years. The programming reads like a social calendar most of us would be jealous of: bridge, canasta, mahjong, bingo, line dancing, poker night, exercise classes (including Sit n' Fit and T'ai-Chi), day trips, craft and jewelry making, and regular breakfast and lunch gatherings.

"Membership is $35 a year. That's less than a single yoga class, for a full year of events, activities, and people to spend time with." — WilCo Seniors

The center is run by a dedicated board of volunteers and managing director Lisa Leirvaag. They're always looking for new members and new ideas for activities.

If you've been looking for a place to meet people, play some cards, or just have a reason to get out of the house on a Tuesday, give them a call.

💡 DID YOU KNOW

Free Tax Prep at the Baca Center — Round Rock

Tax season doesn't have to mean paying someone $300 to file your return.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offering free in-person tax preparation at the Allen R. Baca Center in Round Rock every Tuesday and Thursday through April 15. The service is by appointment only.

To request an appointment, visit WilCo Tax-Aide or call 512-931-4195. Slots fill up, so check back if nothing's available right away.

"The Baca Center is also worth knowing about on its own. Over 1,600 members, 50+ weekly activities, a fitness room, art clubs, a garden club, group exercise, and organized day trips. Annual membership is just $30." — 301 W. Bagdad Ave., Round Rock | roundrocktexas.gov/baca-center

⚡ QUICK HITS

❤️ Amplify WilCo Day wrapped up this week. The 24-hour giving event raised funds for over 90 Williamson County nonprofits. If you missed it, many of those organizations accept donations year-round.

🎨 Georgetown Art Center has the Neo Geo exhibit on display through March 15, featuring artists Larry Akers and Janet Brooks. Free admission. Thu-Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 1-5pm.

🏀 Granny Basketball at the Baca Center is a women's 50+ league that plays 1920s-style six-on-six basketball with no running or jumping allowed. If that doesn't make you smile, nothing will.
